Its time to take action on mental health in construction.
With the highest prevalence of suicide in the Construction industry, this event will explore the reasons behind why this is an ongoing problem and how we can take action and the importance of support.
Join the discussion with Andrea Newton, a leading consultant with the National Centre for Suicide Prevention Training and has worked across a wide range of private, public and voluntary sectors for the last 19 years, from television to construction. She consistently receives excellent feedback from her training sessions and talks which have been described as “direct and uncomplicated”.
She is passionate about her mission to help organisations take a practical, proactive and business focused approach to supporting mental wellbeing in the workplace AND she wears fabulous shoes!
Given that construction industry workers are 6 times more likely to die by suicide than the general population, it’s a talk you can’t afford to miss.

From the 1st October 2019, the way VAT is accounted for in the construction industry is going to change dramatically.
The VAT reverse charge will prevent main contractors paying VAT down the supply chain.
Whether you are the end client, contractor or sole trader, come and join us on 28th February to hear from industry experts on how the changes will affect you, how to remain compliant and how to minimise the impact to business.
If one exciting taxation topic wasn’t enough…. you’ll also hear all about IR35 in the private sector!

In case you missed this event…
At over 2,500 business failures per annum, the construction sector accounts for the greatest number of registered insolvencies of any sector in the UK.
In response to this, Constructing Excellence is kick starting a new industry wide conversation in construction around organisational resilience, which follows the release of their latest research report ‘The Organisational Resilience of The UK Construction Industry: Are We Built on a House of Cards?’ Written by Project Five Consulting and published by Constructing Excellence, this research report presents an overview of how resilient the industry is in relation to a range of internal and external factors.

This event will update members on Construction Design and Management Regulations, highlighting confusion within the industry concerning all responsibilities. The Regulations are no longer an ACOP but a Guidance note and place the responsibilities clearly with the Client and Principle Designer/Contractor, however this can often fail to be implemented as commitments within tender documentation, are sometimes drafted by third parties and not communicated to the actual contractors implementing the works, which can therefore become a Health & Safety issue in itself. This creates cost implications, angst within the project team, affects KPI’s and future framework contracts.
Innov8’s CDM-Advisors have been able to regularly prevent such occurrences for CEC tenders/projects.

This event will update members on local progress with the Healthy New Towns programme (launched in March 2016), with ten housing developments chosen to put good health at the heart of urban design and planning. The aim is to reduce pressure on the NHS by rethinking our lifestyles and the way health services are delivered.
Halton, was selected as the focus of a separate design challenge, as it was at the beginning of its plans and could make the most of bold new ideas.
